Summary
- The 2011 report improves on its predecessors in both scope and presentation.
- The report covers all industrial-scale companies, but only one of the three small-scale cooperatives provided its information. Government reporting, on the other hand, covered all three cooperatives.
- The current report disaggregates the data by industrial and small-scale mining companies, and also specifies the audit requirements. Given that the 2006 Validation Report said there were no audit requirements in CAR due to a lack of auditing traditions, the request for and submission of audited data from principal mining company Areva to is a step in the right direction.
- The report does not provide a materiality clause.
- The recent report does not include an updated version of the mining sector introduction provided in the 2006 report.
